ORIGAMI HOTEL

Bryant Park Hotel, NYC

These geometric patterns were developed into three dimentional volumes to house the program developed for the new hotel.

An adittional aspect of the design is the intention of transforming shapes into more complex forms by cutting, removing, and folding planes as in the art of origami. The formal language or theme, perhaps of the final design, is repeated in walls, floor, celing, textures, furniture, design and layout. The program consisted in a
Bar, Restaurant and Junior Suites.

NORTHSIDE TOWNHALL

Engine 212, Brooklyn

The project was planned in the social, economic, artistic and urban context of a community and arts center in an existing Brooklyn Fire House; Engine 212.
The collaboration was made with Northside Community and Cultural Center, which is a non-profit activist organization (formed by
Poeple’s Fire House and NAG) that was awarded the rights to redevelop the defunct firehouse into a space that will still continue to
serve the community.

The three storey building was divided into a Performance and Exhibition
space, offices for both organizations, a rooftop and a library open to the community.
The concept is an abstraction of the cone formed by the spot of light used in artistic performances. The opening that starts from the rooftop and passes through each floor concludes in a cone-shaped stair which
also serves as a sitting area for the audience.

THE 4TH BIN

The 4th Bin is an organization whose purpose is to collect discarded cell phones and electronic devices transforming them into reusable items.
The 4th Bin requested a pop-up store where they could spread the word about electronic recycling and also use the space as a disposal
for cell phones and discarded computers.
The proposal was to re-use a container truck with a functional and clean design composed of 3 main bins which could be accessed from
the interior and exterior.
